One of the more hidden members-only clubs in London
The 40/30 club sits atop the "Gherkin" building in London's financial district. Known throughout the world as one of London's most iconic pieces of architecture, even most Londoner's aren't aware that the building has a members-only club at the top. Conveniently, one doesn‘t need another member‘s recommendation to apply for membership, instead it‘s all down to paying GBP750 in cash. Quite a bit of money, but the price is on par with other London clubs of this standing. The application can be done via the website, www.4030.co.uk. The smarties among us, however, know how to find better deals. E.g., www.socialite-london.com recently offered GBP35 tickets for a summer ball at the club. Since I am living on the wrong side of town to frequent 40/30 more regularly, I stuck to the bargain alternative - and had a ball!
